DENIOS connect for lithium-ion cabinets: Charging and storing lithium-ion batteries – monitored 24/7

Defective lithium-ion batteries are often difficult to identify as such and pose a high safety risk. If a defective lithium-ion battery is charged or stored for a long period of time, there is a high risk of fire. Since charging often takes place unattended outside working hours, the risk of damage spreading is particularly high.

Integration with the DENIOS connect platform allows you to easily monitor the safety and operating status of lithium-ion cabinets around the clock. DENIOS connect thus actively supports you in fulfilling your operator obligations.

DENIOS connect in detail

Everything at a glance: the DENIOS connect web application.

The cloud-based web application displays a list of installed devices and signal transmitters. The associated information is graded according to urgency. If ‘ALARMS’ is displayed, the room system or spill pallet is not operational. This condition must be rectified immediately, as there is an imminent or existing hazard. ‘WARNINGS’ indicate that a problem has been detected that should be rectified, but there is no immediate danger. ‘INFORMATION’ contains important but non-urgent information about the hazardous material storage facility.

You can specify recipients for the alarm messages and also the type of notification: by SMS and/or email. You can choose from predefined details for the message text or select the ‘Free text’ option. You also have access to dashboards and detailed information about your networked DENIOS products.

The DENIOS service team will take care of registering and initially configuring the web application for your hazardous material storage facility. As soon as you activate your customer account in the web application, you can view your hazardous material storage facility and manage notifications individually. Once you have activated SpillGuard® connect in the web application, you can use it to its full extent.

NarrowBand IoT: state-of-the-art transmission technology.

Connecting the status monitoring of your room system to a mobile network allows you to access data and alarm messages independently of your company network. NarrowBand IoT is a secure and efficient mobile network technology for this application. This global industry standard is based on LTE and uses the associated security mechanisms according to 3GPP. As the technology is specifically designed for smaller data volumes and does not require unnecessary LTE functions, it offers particularly cost-efficient and reliable mobile communications.

FAQ: Questions and answers about DENIOS connect

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about condition monitoring with DENIOS connect.

How do the interconnected DENIOS connect products work?

DENIOS connect products contain a wireless module that sends alarms, warnings and information to the DENIOS connect IoT platform. There, notifications are stored, displayed and forwarded to the recipient by email and/or SMS.

Do you require LAN, WLAN or Bluetooth?

No, DENIOS connect products operate independently via a narrowband IoT mobile frequency. Our networked products can be used anywhere where telecommunications providers have expanded their LTE NB-IoT or LTE Cat M mobile frequencies.

How can DENIOS connect products be set up?

You can get your products up and running in just four steps:

1. Activate your customer account using the login details provided.

2. Register yourself in your customer account.

3. Activate your device using the device ID and the guided activation process.

4. Configure the alarms, warnings and information for the devices.

Only once the configuration is complete will you receive an email and/or SMS in the event of a fault or detection. Giving your devices meaningful names will help you to quickly find them when a message is displayed and rectify the cause.

Why isn't the alarm text message coming through?

Smartphones provided by businesses often have restrictions. This may mean that alarm text messages are not displayed. Save the phone number of an unrestricted smartphone in DENIOS connect and trigger a test alarm. If the text message is delivered, please contact your local administrator.

How can a corporate structure be mapped in the DENIOS connect web application?

A hierarchical diagram of a group structure is currently still under development. Please contact our customer support on +44 1952 811991 if you are interested in having your group structure displayed in DENIOS connect.

FAQ: Questions and answers about SpillGuard® connect

Here you will find answers to frequently asked questions about hazardous material leak detection systems for spill pallets.

How does SpillGuard® connect work?

The SpillGuard® connect detects a leak via a sensor on the underside of the device and sends an alarm message to the DENIOS connect IoT platform via the mobile network. This sends you a leak notification in real time by email and/or text message, and you can view your connect products and information in DENIOS connect.

How can I tell if the SpillGuard® connect is switched on?

A red LED on the top of the SpillGuard® connect flashes once per minute when the device is switched on. You can also see the status of the device in the DENIOS connect web application – e.g. ‘Running’ or ‘Offline’.

How can SpillGuard® connect be tested?

The SpillGuard® connect must first be switched on. Moisten the sensor surface on the underside of the device with a little water. After a short time, the SpillGuard® connect will emit acoustic (beeping) and visual (flashing) signals and you will receive an email and SMS, provided you have set this up on the connect platform. After a successful test, you can turn off the alarm, dry the sensor surface with a cloth to prevent false alarms, and switch the SpillGuard® connect back on to detect real leaks.

In which scenarios can SpillGuard® connect be used?

The SpillGuard® connect was developed to detect hazardous materials in spill pallets, even in ATEX Zone 0. Other possible applications, such as rain through leaky roofs, are possible. Find the right application for you. However, please observe the intended use in the quick start guide. LINK NEEDED

Do the spill pallets still need to be checked weekly (according to StawaR / TRGS 510)?

No, you no longer need to do this. SpillGuard® connect has general building approval (Z-65.40-618). With SpillGuard® connect, you comply with the legally required regular visual inspections. The IoT platform generates reports in PDF format that you can use for audits. From now on, you can concentrate on your core processes.

Why can a false alarm occur and how can it be rectified?

Temperature fluctuations around the dew point can cause condensation to form on the sensor surface, triggering a false alarm. Switch off the alarm by turning off the device and carefully drying the sensor surface. You can then switch the device back on. The device is now ready for use again.

Which hazardous materials can be detected?

A detailed compatibility list can be found here.

Are there any operating costs?

We offer you a comprehensive package. You pay the quoted price. This includes the device, mobile phone charges and costs for using the IoT platform for the lifetime of the battery and thus the device. There are no further operating costs.

Can the SpillGuard® connect continue to be used after a leak?

In the case of hazardous materials, there is a possibility that the SpillGuard® connect has been damaged and no longer functions as intended. In this case, dispose of the SpillGuard® connect properly. The answer to ‘How can the SpillGuard® connect be disposed of?’ may be helpful here.

Can the battery of the SpillGuard® connect be replaced?

No, the battery must not be replaced as this is a product approved for ATEX Zone 0. Once the battery has reached the end of its service life, you should dispose of the device and purchase a new SpillGuard® connect.

When will the SpillGuard® connect reach its end of life?

The SpillGuard® connect has been designed for a service life of 5 years. Its service life may be reduced by use in extremely low or high ambient temperatures and by a high number of connection attempts in poor reception conditions. When the battery voltage is low, this will be indicated in DENIOS connect. You will then need a new SpillGuard® connect.

How can the SpillGuard® connect be disposed of?

The product cleaned of hazardous materials must not be disposed of with household waste, but must be recycled as electronic equipment.
