Protect hazardous substances and work areas from unauthorised access

Companies working with hazardous materials are not only responsible for safely storing and handling them, but also for protecting them against unauthorised access.

With suitable access restrictions in place you not only ensure that external interference (such as theft or tampering) is made more difficult, but you also prevent employees who have not received appropriate training from gaining access to hazardous substances or sensitive work areas.

Which technical protective measures are possible?

At DENIOS we offer a number of solutions for controlling the access to storage and work areas, starting with our technical room systems.

Technical Room Systems: With extensive equipment options for added safety

Our technical room systems are equipped as standard with burglar protection up to resistance class RC 4 according to DIN EN 1630. In addition, you can choose from a wide range of optional monitoring technology with the appropriate components to make your system even safer. This includes:

  • Intrusion detection systems

  • Video surveillance

  • Access control (mechanical locking systems as well as access systems via fingerprint or transponder)

Important: When storing flammable substances, the explosion protection must also be taken into account. You need a personal consultation? Contact us! Our expert team will gladly advise you on your options.

The European standard series DIN EN 1627 ff "Burglar resistance" describes a classification of hazardous areas as well as the technical requirements for a system resulting from the individual test procedures of the series of standards (EN 1628 to EN 1630). In detail, the different test methods are described as follows:

EN 1628: Test method for the determination of resistance under static load. By applying static loads, compressive forces are generated and thus basic strengths are tested.

EN 1629: Test method for determination of resistance under dynamic load. With a shock body loads are simulated analogous to a kick or shoulder throw.

EN 1630: Test methods for determining resistance to manual burglary attempts which are adjusted under laboratory conditions.

Resistance Class Resistance Time Maximum total test time Offender type and behaviour
RC 1 N - - Basic protection against attempts to break up with physical violence (mainly vandalism)
RC 2 N 3 Minutes 15 Minutes Occasional offenders - additional use of simple tools such as screwdrivers, pliers and wedge (standard window glass)
RC 2 3 Minutes 15 Minutes Occasional offenders - additional use of simple tools such as screwdrivers, pliers and wedge (from this class, safety glazing according to EN 356 is required)
RC 3 5 Minutes 20 Minutes Habitual offenders - additional use of a second screwdriver and a cow's foot
RC 4 10 Minutes 30 Minutes Experienced perpetrator - additional use of Säre- and striking tools such as ax, chisel, hammer and chisel and a cordless drill
RC 5 15 Minutes 40 Minutes Experienced perpetrator - additional use of power tools such as drill, jigsaw or saber saw and angle grinder (maximum disc diameter 125 mm) - Glazing must survive the direct attack during the test
RC 6 20 Minutes 50 Minutes Experienced perpetrator - additional use of more powerful power tools such as a drill, jigsaw or saber saw and angle grinder (maximum disc diameter 230 mm) - Glazing must withstand the direct attack during the test

But if you do not need a large warehouse, our storage solutions for smaller quantities of hazardous materials also provide safe protection against unauthorised access: Our safety cabinets, hazardous material depots and gas cylinder cages are equipped with locking systems as standard. You will also find door guards and electronic door locks for retrofitting, as well as key boxes for the safekeeping of existing keys in our online shop.

Safety Cabinets

Those who store hazardous substances in workrooms want to ensure that only authorized employees have access to the stored substances. Therefore, we offer you a comprehensive range of safety cabinets that can be locked to protect against unauthorized access: From universal cylinder to electronic, lock system-enabled profile cylinder lock.

Hazardous Materials Depots

Large containers in small quantities, e.g. a few barrels or individual IBCs can be optimally stored in hazardous material depots. These are used both indoors and outdoors. Of course, protection against unauthorized access is also important here. That is why we have equipped all DENIOS hazardous substance depots with a corresponding locking mechanism as standard.

Gas Cages

Handling gas cabinets involves many dangers - which in many ways makes them more demanding than liquid hazardous substances. To prevent access by unauthorized persons is of great importance here too. Our gas bottle storage cages and cabinets are lockable by default and provide protection against unauthorized use.

Locks

Secure locker doors, cabinets and tool boxes against unauthorized access with our range of padlocks.

Barriers

If construction or maintenance work is carried out, these temporary hazardous areas should be closed to prevent unauthorized access. Even in acute hazardous situations such as spills, a mobile barrier is recommended, to prevent the leak spreading into the operational environment.

Locking Systems

Locking system ensure safe operation during maintenance and cleaning. By securing handwheels, levers, valves or connectors, their accidental operation is effectively prevented, therefore preventing potential personal injury and property damage.
