Commercial Drums and Barrels from DENIOS Ireland

At DENIOS Ireland we aim to meet all your workplace storage requirements with our range of high quality plastic and steel drums. These are suitable for the storage of viscous liquids, pastes and loose solids and we stock a wide range of barrel handling equipment to help you use them as efficiently as possible.

All the drums and polyethylene barrels in our range are UN approved, so if you use them properly you can be sure that you are complying with environmental regulations.

When buying drums, you need to make sure that they are suitable for the substances you want to store, that they have sufficient capacity and that they have the appropriate openings for your purposes. You should also make sure that the type of lid you choose offers a good balance between safety and ease of access. Some drum lids are equipped with valves to prevent gas from accumulating inside and creating a pressure-related explosion risk.

Types of Drums and Barrels

We stock UN-approved steel drums designed for the storage of liquids or solids. They are provided with openings and can therefore usually only be opened with tools, which is an additional safety level. They are untreated on the inside and painted on the outside and are available in sizes of 60 or 205 litres. As they comply with UN standards, these drums can be used with all equipment commonly used in the industry, minimising the risk of accidents.

Our polyethylene barrels have wide openings so they are easy to fill - even when you are working at high speed. They are designed for storing solids or pastes. Some drums are equipped with L-rings to help secure the lid. PE drums with tension or clamping rings are easy to secure in position and reduce the risk of spillage or contamination during transport. They are also an eco-friendly option. You can choose from lidded drums with a capacity of 30, 60, 120 or 220 litres.

We also have a range of safety drums. With such a chemical drum, you can safely store acids, alkalis and many different types of corrosive chemicals. The drums have a capacity of 245 or 360 litres and are available with a clamping ring lid or screw cap. They have large openings that provide plenty of space for filling and reduce the risk of spillages.

Lifting and moving barrels

Even though 60-litre drums are often able to be carried short distances, a fully filled 205-litre drum can weigh up to 300 kg, making simple lifting and carrying unsafe, even if two workers tackle the task together. This means that special drum lifting equipment must be used.

Manual lifting can be done with the help of trolleys that slide under the barrels and tip them into position. Of course, this should not be attempted if a barrel is open or otherwise in danger of spilling its contents. In this case, it should be lifted with a forklift truck with the appropriate attachments, either from above or with gripping arms that prevent tipping.

Moving a steel or PE drum over a long distance is a risk even when using manual lifting equipment, especially if this has to be done frequently. Damage to the body caused by this type of injury can develop slowly and is therefore difficult to detect before it becomes serious. For this reason, forklifts should always be used when a drum needs to be moved in this way. They are also crucial when moving drums into or out of elevated storing positions.
