WHAT MUST BE CONSIDERED WHEN DISPOSING OF LUBRICANTS AND MINERAL OILS?
The disposal of waste oil is governed by the waste oil regulation. The waste oil regulation applies to all producers, collectors and transporters of waste oil, as well as to operators of disposal facilities. Waste oil is defined as oil that is generated as waste and consists of mineral, biogenic or synthetic oil. In the Waste oil regulation, oils are initially divided into four collection categories. The oils in collection category 1 can be processed and reused. For this reason, among others, mixing oils of different categories or mixing oil with other liquids is strictly prohibited. Coolant usually consists of distilled water and coolant with chemical additives to prevent freezing at low temperatures. Old cooling water is hazardous waste and must never be disposed of down the drain. In principle, sellers of cooling liquids are obliged to take them back after use (on presentation of the receipt). Otherwise, the liquid can be handed in at the local recycling centre or civic amenities site.
